About

Based in Cornwall, England, sleepless ink is the umbrella name for the art, photography and design work of Kevin Cooper.
With a career background in the surfboard industry spanning over 20 years the artwork at sleepless ink is a combination of skills gained from putting graphics on surfboards plus design, photography and printing techniques learnt and enjoyed over the past decade. Combining these different approaches has allowed Kevin to produce pieces with texture and multiple layers while exploring different subject matters, although he often gravitates towards his roots in surfing. Part of this process uses drawings, paintings, scans and photographs before being transferred onto textured backgrounds. These works often become prints in their own right and are printed in numbered runs as limited editions.
The photography consists of taking pictures for the love of getting out with a camera and taking time to look at things, this can result in good photographs or sometimes just a good walk!
The design work undertaken focuses on all things print – brochures, flyers, T-Shirts, event posters, business cards, magazine adverts and logo design.

How it started

The art, photography and design came together as sleepless ink in 2009 after years of pursuing each interest individually. The name was born from the late nights spent drawing, designing, processing photos and printing. Since then the artwork has come to the fore after being well received by galleries plus being the most rewarding in terms of freedom away from material and format restrictions. It is on the back of the artwork that much design work has been generated, magazine adverts, posters, business cards and most notably a seasons range of T-Shirts for Fat Face, it is in this vain that sleepless ink hopes to continue.
